1. What Are Cookies & Tracking Technologies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer, tablet, mobile phone, or other device when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognize your device and remember if you've been to the website before. Cookies are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, provide a better user experience, and give website owners information about how their websites are used.

In addition to cookies, we may use other tracking technologies that collect information about your visit, including:

  • Web beacons (or "clear gifs"): Small graphic images placed on web pages or in emails that allow us to monitor whether you have performed specific actions, accessed specific content, or opened an email.
  • Pixels: Small code blocks on a website that allow tracking of user activity, website conversions, user interests, and more.
  • Local Storage: Web browser mechanism that allows websites to store data directly in your browser without expiration dates and without being sent to the server with each request.

In simple terms: Cookies and other tracking technologies are small files and code snippets that help us understand how you use our website, remember your preferences, and provide you with relevant content and features.

2. Your Consent

When you first visit our website, you will be shown a cookie consent banner that allows you to accept, decline, or customize your cookie preferences. By clicking "Accept All Cookies," you are giving us your consent to use all cookies and tracking technologies described in this policy.

If you choose to customize your preferences, you will be able to select which categories of cookies you consent to. You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking on the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer of our website.

Please note that essential cookies are necessary for the basic functionality of our website and cannot be disabled. These cookies do not collect any personal information and are active only during your current browsing session.

By continuing to use our website without adjusting your cookie settings, you consent to our use of cookies in accordance with this Cookies Policy. However, you can change your cookie settings at any time.

Important: If you choose to disable or decline certain cookies, some parts of our website may not function properly, and you may not be able to access certain features.

3. Cookies We Use

We use different types of cookies for various purposes. Here is a comprehensive list of the categories of cookies we use on our website:

Essential Cookies

These cookies are necessary for the website to function properly. They enable core functionality such as security, network management, saving your resume progress locally in your browser, and accessibility. You cannot opt out of these cookies as the website cannot function properly without them.

session_id Maintains your session
csrf_token Prevents cross-site request forgery
cookie_consent Stores your cookie preferences

Analytics & Performance Cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our website by collecting and reporting information anonymously. This helps us improve our website's structure, content, and user experience.

_ga Google Analytics - Distinguishes users
_gid Google Analytics - Identifies user session
_gat Google Analytics - Throttles request rate

4. Analytics & Performance Cookies

We use analytics and performance cookies to collect information about how visitors use our website. This helps us improve our website's functionality, content, and user experience. The primary analytics services we use are:

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. Google Analytics uses cookies to help us analyze how users use our site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of our website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States.

Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of our website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators, and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf.

Google Analytics cookies typically include:

  • _ga: Used to distinguish users. Expiration: 2 years.
  • _gid: Used to distinguish users. Expiration: 24 hours.
  • _gat: Used to throttle request rate. Expiration: 1 minute.
  • AMP_TOKEN: Contains a token that can be used to retrieve a Client ID from AMP Client ID service. Expiration: 30 seconds to 1 year.
  • _gac_<property-id>: Contains campaign related information. Expiration: 90 days.

We do not use analytics tools to track individuals personally. All data collected is anonymized and aggregated to help us understand general usage patterns and improve our service.

5. Local Storage

In addition to cookies, we use browser local storage to save your resume data directly on your device. This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers (except temporarily during PDF generation). This allows you to continue working on your resume across browser sessions without needing to create an account.

How We Use Local Storage

We use local storage for the following purposes:

  • Storing your resume data (personal information, work experience, education, skills, etc.)
  • Storing your profile photo as a base64 encoded string directly in local storage
  • Preserving your resume creation progress

Your data stays on your device

Persists between sessions

Private and secure

Local storage differs from cookies in that the data stored in local storage has no expiration date and doesn't get sent to the server with each request. This makes it ideal for storing larger amounts of data that you want to persist even after the browser is closed.

Important: Clearing your browser data will erase your saved resume information from local storage. Always export important resumes as PDFs to prevent data loss.

Managing Local Storage

You can view and manage the data stored in local storage through your browser's developer tools. Most modern browsers allow you to clear local storage through the same interface you use to clear cookies and other site data.

To clear local storage:

  1. Open your browser's settings or preferences
  2. Navigate to the privacy or storage section
  3. Look for options to clear browsing data, cookies, and site data
  4. Make sure "Local Storage" or "Site Data" is selected
  5. Clear the data

Please note that clearing local storage will permanently delete any unsaved resume data.

6. Managing Cookies

In such cases, we will ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your personal data, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission or UK authorities.

By accepting cookies and similar technologies on our website, you acknowledge and consent to the transfer of your personal data to countries outside your country of residence, including countries that may not provide the same level of data protection as your country of residence.

11. Children's Privacy

Our website is not intended for children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18 through cookies or similar technologies.
